Service interdependencies and impact: CoreView and Microsoft 365 outages

  • Last update on September 8th, 2025

CoreView functions as a management layer for Microsoft 365 environments by interfacing with Microsoft Graph and additional workload-specific APIs provided by Microsoft 365.

CoreView operations depend on the availability and responsiveness of these APIs. If Microsoft 365 experiences a service outage or API disruption, some CoreView features may partially or fully unavailable.
Conversely, if CoreView experiences an outage or downtime, there is no impact on the operation of Microsoft 365 services themselves.

Impact of CoreView outages on Microsoft 365

If the CoreView platform is unavailable, the availability and operation of Microsoft 365 workloads (such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive) are not affected because CoreView does not proxy, alter, or route end-user data traffic or authentication requests between users and Microsoft 365. During a CoreView outage:

  • The CoreView administrative portal and any scheduled CoreView automations are inaccessible.
  • Reporting and management features accessible via CoreView are temporarily unavailable.
  • Administrators must use Microsoft’s native admin portals (such as the Microsoft 365 Admin Center) to perform tenant management or reporting until CoreView service is restored.

Impact of Microsoft 365 outages on CoreView

If Microsoft 365 experiences API failures, throttling, service interruptions, or authentication errors, CoreView services dependent on those APIs may be partially or fully unable to retrieve data or perform management actions. Scenarios include:

  • Microsoft Graph API or workload-specific API disruptions prevent CoreView from retrieving data or performing .
  • Outages in services such as Exchange Online or SharePoint Online result in incomplete or delayed reporting in CoreView for those specific workloads.
  • Authentication or permissions service issues prevent CoreView from establishing or maintaining connectivity required to access APIs.
