How to onboard a partner as a distributor

  • Last update on November 22nd, 2024

In CoreView's Partner App , you can onboard and manage your partner's subscription by changing the status from TRIAL to PRODUCTION.

The process

The process works as follows:

  1. Add a new partner to the Partner App.
  2. Your partner receives a welcome email with a trial activation link.
  3. The partner connects their Microsoft 365 tenant to activate the trial.
  4. The 14-day trial period for the partner begins.
  5. Now, there are two options:
    1. Cancel the trial before completion.
    2. The subscription will be auto-activated from TRIAL to PRODUCTION.

Add a new partner

The first step to provision a partner is to add the account to the PartnerApp. An email with an activation link will be sent to the partner to start the TRIAL period.

Add a new partner to the PartnerApp

To add a partner, navigate to “Invoice”, then select “Partners”.

Use the “Add partner” option, found under the “Action” menu on the “Partners” page.

When initiating the process, you need to provide the following information:

  1. Organization name: enter the name of the partner’s organization.
  2. Notification email: specify the email address where the CoreView activation link will be sent.

Partner is provisioned with the following set of SKUs:

  • Essentials MSP 2025
  • Professional MSP 2025

and the add-ons:

  • Delegation 2025
  • Audit 2025
  • Hybrid 2025

Once all the required details are entered, click the “Apply” button to create the partner tenant and send the activation link to the specified email address.

Check the onboarding status

After you have added a partner using the “Add partner” feature, an email with the trial activation link will be sent to the email address specified in the “Notification email” field.

From the “Pending partners” tab under the “Invoice” > “Partners” page, you can monitor the status of the onboarding.

Manage the partner subscription

Once the partner clicks on the activation link, they will enter a 14-day TRIAL period. After the 14 days have passed, the partner's account will automatically transition to PRODUCTION. Here’s what you can do to manage this transition period.

Converting a partner to PRODUCTION status will initiate billing for that MSP's production tenants to the distributor.

Prevent the automatic upgrade

After the trial period, the account will automatically upgrade to PRODUCTION status. You'll be notified by email before this change occurs.

You can prevent the account from being automatically upgraded using the “Manage subscription upgrade” option.

Extend the TRIAL period

Partner trials can be extended directly from the Partner page.

Extensions are permitted only during the last 3 days of the trial period and will add an additional 7 days to the trial. Each trial can be extended only once.

Here are the steps:

  1. Navigate to “Invoice” > “Partners
  2. Select the partner by selecting the checkbox (the “Subscription level” field must equal “TRIAL”)
  3. From the “Actions” menu, choose “Extend trial”.
  4. In the panel that opens, you can extend the expiration date.

Manually convert a partner from TRIAL to PRODUCTION

Partner trials can be manually transitioned to a full subscription at any time, even after the trial has expired.

To manually convert a partner to a production account use the “Convert to production account” action.

Here are the steps:

  1. Navigate to “Invoice” > “Partners
  2. Select the partner by selecting the checkbox (the “Subscription level” field must equal “TRIAL”)
  3. From the “Actions” menu, choose “Convert to production account”.
  4. In the panel that opens, change the “Subscription level”.

By converting a partner to a production account, you extend their access beyond the trial period and grant them full access to CoreView's features and capabilities.
