1. Service Description

The Foundation Service provides a predefined onboarding process that ensures a smooth and efficient start with the CoreView platform. It includes essential configurations and tailored solutions designed to meet your organization's specific requirements and is delivered consistently across all CoreView SKUs, with scope tailored to the one purchased.

This service is mandatory because it provides the foundation for secure, automated, and efficient management of your Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring that your systems align with best practices for governance, security, and automation.

The combination of high reliability, expertise, and specialized skills ensures that your environment is configured correctly from the start.

2. Approach

The minimum objective of the Foundation Service is to deliver an initial set of priority outcomes — typically the three use cases with the highest impact and fastest return on investment for your organization — that provide immediate value. We have structured our approach to ensure these priority outcomes are achieved quickly, allowing you to start benefiting from the CoreView platform without delays.

The Foundation Service follows a structured and predefined implementation plan designed to ensure that your environment is up and running as quickly as possible. With this well-organized process, your organization won't have to wait long to start benefiting from the CoreView platform.

Tenant setup

The first step is the Tenant Setup, where we handle the configuration of your tenant environment, access, roles, and permissions, covering one M365 tenant with out-of-the-box service accounts and apps. This ensures a smooth and well-coordinated start, avoiding delays and guaranteeing that everything is correctly set up from the outset. During this phase, we adhere to industry best practices for security, including the principle of least privilege, ensuring that users have only the access necessary for their roles. This minimizes the risk of unauthorized access and enhances overall security. Conditional Access requirements are supported through 'what-if' analysis and guidance.

For hybrid environments, we also follow stringent security protocols to ensure seamless integration while maintaining robust security measures. This includes secure configuration of hybrid setups to protect data integrity and confidentiality.

Hybrid Installation

For those who require it, Hybrid Installation — the Hybrid Connector for Active Directory and Exchange on-premises — is included as standard in CoreView ONE Enterprise, and available as an add-on for all other SKUs, providing greater flexibility to integrate with hybrid environments based on your organization's specific requirements. This includes secure configurations to ensure that hybrid setups meet the same stringent security standards as cloud-only environments.

Configuration

Additionally, we perform a Configuration Manager assessment, comparing your tenant against an industry baseline at a strategic level to identify drift and keep your environment in sync; tenant-side backup and restore are handled separately. This step is included for Tenant Resilience, CoreView ONE, and CoreView ONE Enterprise, and helps ensure your environment stays aligned with best practices over time.

Governance

Next, we focus on Governance, activating standard out-of-the-box (OOB) policies covering Security & Identity and Entra Apps, with remediation enabled, across all SKUs.

With Tenant Management, CoreView ONE, and CoreView ONE Enterprise we also include up to three custom policies, built on the out-of-the-box columns and tailored to your specific governance and security needs. This ensures that your organization operates in compliance with best practices right from the beginning.

Automation

We then move on to Automation

All SKUs include core management actions across Users, Groups, Entra Apps, and Exchange.

Tenant Management, CoreView ONE, and CoreView ONE Enterprise extend this with management actions across M365 Groups, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Devices. With Tenant Management, CoreView ONE, and CoreView ONE Enterprise, the Foundation Service includes assistance with creating:

  • Up to three custom workflows, containing up to ten steps each
  • Up to three custom actions, each containing up to twenty lines of native logic

This helps automate key business processes, improving operational efficiency and reducing manual workloads.

Delegation

A key aspect is Delegation, which consists of Role-Based Permission sets, Virtual Tenants, and License Pools.

Configuration of one Role-Based Permission set is available across all SKUs.

For Tenant Management, CoreView ONE, and CoreView ONE Enterprise, the Foundation Service also includes configuration of License Pools and up to five Virtual Tenants. This ensures precise access management, allowing each user to interact only with the resources appropriate for their role, further enhancing security and compliance.

For Tenant Resilience, Delegation via Virtual Tenants and License Pools is available as an add-on (Professional Services Delegation configuration).

3. Deliverables

  • Onboarding Prerequisites: A checklist of the minimum requirements your organization must fulfill before the Kickoff meeting, covering licensing readiness (Microsoft 365 licensing and, where Conditional Access is required, Azure AD Premium P1 or P2), technical prerequisites (Global Administrator access, access to relevant Microsoft 365 workloads and Entra ID, and network/tenant configuration readiness), and, where applicable, hybrid environment readiness and Configuration Manager readiness. Fulfilling these requirements from day one prevents delays and ensures CoreView can connect, collect data, apply policies, and support your administrative operations from the very start.
  • Kickoff Meeting Presentation: A presentation customized before and after the Kickoff meeting to reflect the priority outcomes, acceptance criteria, and implementation approach agreed with you, providing a basis for final approval of project objectives.
  • Configured CoreView Environment: A fully operational CoreView deployment that implements your priority outcomes end to end — tenant setup, governance policies, automation workflows, and the delegation model configured against best practices and validated with your team. This is the core value of the Foundation Service: a secure, automated, and well-governed Microsoft 365 environment, ready to scale from day one.

4. Duration and Timeline

The project typically spans 3 to 13 weeks. The exact timeline depends on the SKU purchased, the complexity of your business requirements, and the weekly time your team can dedicate to the engagement — planned around a default of 3 hours per week

The process is divided into four key phases, ensuring a structured approach and progress transparency.

Expand to see project duration and key phases

1. Initiation

The project begins with a handover and an initial Kickoff meeting to review your current state and business priorities. We will also describe and define the overall project plan and a clear set of priority outcomes during this phase.

2. Planning

Here, we jointly design the solution and confirm all prerequisites, integrating governance policies, workflows, and security protocols aligned with your needs. You validate the approach before any configuration begins, so there are no surprises.

3. Execution

In this phase, we configure your environment iteratively against the agreed priority outcomes, focusing on the capabilities tailored to your business use case, with training embedded in every session so your team can effectively utilize the system as it takes shape.

4. Closure

After Execution, we review adoption and confirm that all agreed outcomes have been met, identifying any final adjustments where needed. You sign off on a fully operational environment, ready to scale, and we move into full-scale usage with post-go-live support to ensure a seamless transition and continued success.
