The Governance Center is a centralized panel and primary interface for monitoring, managing, and maintaining compliance and security across your Microsoft 365 environment.
It provides a unified dashboard, populated with data from Playbooks and policies, where administrators can assess tenant health, review compliance status, investigate policy compliance, and take direct action to remediate security or configuration issues.
Structure of the Governance Center
The Governance Center consists of three main sections.
Overview dashboard
- Provides a quick snapshot of your tenant’s overall governance and compliance posture.
- Features color-coded indicators for immediate visual reference to policy status.
- Allows you to view a summary of configuration changes made to your tenant
- Enables you to generate an AI-powered health check.
- Allows export of dashboard data for offline analysis.

- Enables in-depth analysis by policy
- Contains navigation, report, and Playbook widgets
Playbook tabs
- Provides dedicated playbooks dashboards tailored to focus areas like Security, Identity Management, Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive. with compliance scores, policy statuses, and action options.
- Allows direct access to policy reports via the policy boxes.
