Baseline Propagation Mode

  • Last update on June 17th, 2025

Baseline propagation allows changes made in the baseline tenant to propagate down to all downstream tenants. This saves time if you want to keep all downstream tenants aligned to your baseline.

How Baseline Propagation works

  1. Make a change in the baseline tenant via the portal
  2. Sync the baseline tenant in Configuration Manager
  3. The change is detected during the Sync and backed up.
  4. Sync the downstream tenant in Configuration Manager
  5. The downstream tenant will pend approval to deploy the same change detected in the baseline tenant during its last Sync.

Baseline Propagation options

Under “Organization Settings” > “Sync” you can define the Baseline Propagation mode options.

These options determine the types of Syncs that should propagate changes made in the baseline tenant.

Options

  • None”: this setting turns the feature off (default). All changes to downstream tenants must be made manually via Reconcile.
  • "ManualSync": turns on baseline propagation only when running manual Syncs. Changes detected in the baseline will propagate during manual Syncs from the Sync page. The nightly scheduled backup does not propagate changes in this mode.
  • Automatic”: turns on baseline propagation for all Syncs, both manual and nightly scheduled Syncs.
