This article describes how delegated operators can onboard new users using a workflow containing a “Create user from template” action. Both individual and bulk onboarding processes are explained, with details on required input fields and available options during execution.
Step 1: enter input properties
Onboarding a single user
To create a user with an onboarding workflow that contains a “Create user from template” action:
- Go to the Workflow list page.

- Locate the assigned workflow and select “Run” under the “Actions” column.

- Complete the required inputs in the wizard, providing:
- User Template (if not pre-selected by Tenant Admin)
- Username (required)
- Display name (required)
- Password (required)

Note: only templates matching the sync/on-cloud workflow action type and assigned to you will appear in the dropdown. Use the search bar to find a specific template if needed.
Onboarding users in bulk (CSV import)
Alternatively, upload a CSV file from the Workflow list page and select the assigned workflow for bulk user onboarding. For more details, see the Run a Workflow via CSV guide.
Step 2: manage editable properties
Once a template is selected, relevant fields are populated according to template settings:
- Pre-filled and greyed-out: not editable; locked in the User Template.

- Pre-filled but editable: the field is populated but not greyed out; it can be modified.

- Blank with dropdown: options can be selected from a dropdown; selection may be required.

- Blank: fully customizable; leave blank or fill in as needed.

Additional options:
- An “+Add” button may appear for fields such as additional groups, licenses, or permissions. You can use this button to assign more groups, licenses, or permissions as needed.
- Some pre-filled fields may display a bin icon, allowing you to remove specific properties if desired.
