This tutorial is designed to provide information on the requirements, prerequisites, and steps required to successfully upgrade your CoreView Hybrid Connector from version 2016 to 2019/2022 or from version 2019 to 2022 in your organization.

The steps presented describe how to first deploy the Hybrid Connector version into a new server and then migrate your workload from your 2016/2019 version to the new one.

We recommend performing all the tasks during a maintenance window since the migration requires downtime with both your management session and all management actions performed while the procedure is being completed.

However, even if your management actions won’t execute during the migration time, all of them will be queued and executed as soon as your target Hybrid Connector version is up and running.

The audience for this document and the performance of the activities described herein would typically require the participation of one or more of your organization’s senior technology staff that support enterprise services.

It is critically important that the appropriate individuals within your organization review the information provided in this document and reach out to CoreView with any questions prior to scheduling a deployment.

Docker

As mentioned above, the CoreView Diagnostic Tool will use Docker to run.

Please bear in mind you can run your 2019 Hybrid Connector only on a Windows Server 2019 host server, and your 2022 Hybrid Connector only on a Windows Server 2022 host server.

For instance, if you deployed Windows 2019, you have to set up the 2019 Hybrid Connector version. This is because the Hybrid Connector is configured on a Windows Server docker container and your docker engine is related to your host operating system version.

Please, be mindful that the installation package for the Hybrid Connector is the same for every version of Windows Server; what changes and is important to configure correctly is the SKU. You will find the step-by-step procedure in Upgrade the Hybrid Connector: Migration steps article.

To install Docker on your Windows server, please follow the instructions described in the official Microsoft documentation.
