Change who can approve a Sync

  • Last update on September 18th, 2024

When installing or reinstalling a tenant, you can select the Approval Group under “Advanced Settings”. You may need to add approvers who are not part of the selected Approval Group.

In Azure DevOps, you can add specific individuals, groups, or a combination of both as approvers. The approval requirements will depend on how these approvers are set up in Azure DevOps.

Adding Azure DevOps users and groups to the Approval Group

To control which users can approve a Sync, or to add multiple approvers, do the following:

  • Access to Azure DevOps

  • Select the project containing the desired tenants  > “Pipelines” > “Environments

  • Select the tenant you wish to change approvers for

  • For “Approvals and checks” select “All approvers must approve

  • Add the individual users or groups that you would like to approve Syncs

Approval requirements for users and groups

There are differences in approval requirements between individual users and groups:

  • Individual users:
    • If you add individual users, each user added must approve the Sync before it can continue.
    • This means that if you add multiple users, every one of them needs to give their approval for the Sync to proceed.
  • Groups:
    • If you add a group, only one member of that group needs to approve the Sync.
    • However, if you add multiple groups, at least one member from each group must approve the Sync before it can proceed.
