Edit a tenant: reinstall tenant

  • Last update on December 3rd, 2024

Reinstalling a tenant involves changing the settings related to a tenant previously installed.

What you can edit

When you reinstall a tenant, you can change the authentication method, service principal, or the advanced settings. These settings can be changed at any time. Refer to the guide below to understand how to edit each setting.

You can change these settings for both baseline tenants and downstream tenants.

Access the “Reinstall” page

Step 1

To edit a tenant's settings, you need to navigate to “Tenants” in the sidebar.

Step 2

In the “Tenants” page, identify the desired tenant; if needed, use the search bar to narrow down your search.

Identify the desired tenant.

Step 3

Once you have identified the tenant you wish to reinstall, select the three-dots icon located at the end of the row, and select “Reinstall”.

Select the three-dots icon.

Edit settings

In the “Reinstall” page, you can perform the following actions:

Change authentication method

If you enabled the “user account authentication”,  you can change the method by which Configuration Manager authenticates into the tenant: Service Account or Delegated Authentication.

If you did not enable the option, you can do so now.

If you enabled it, you can now disable this option.

Change Service Principal authentication

You can either choose Configuration Manager's service principal, use a custom service principal.

Use a Configuration Manager's service principal option.

Link an Azure subscription

Enable this option if you have configurations associated with an Azure subscription that you would like to manage with Configuration Manager.
If you have previously activated it, you can re-select this option to change which subscription is linked to Configuration Manager, or you also have the option to disable it.

Please note that disabling this option will prevent configurations that sit behind an Azure subscription from being Synced.

Link an Azure Subscription option.

Change agent pool selection

Configuration Manager offers the ability to choose where your Sync operations run through the agent pool feature. While syncs typically run on Microsoft-hosted agents by default, you can select self-hosted agents for enhanced control and security compliance.

Agent pools can be selected either from the Sync page as well.

Change approval group selection

You can change which group of users has the authority to approve or reject changes made to the tenant configurations.

Approval group selection.

Install as backup only

Checking this box will restrict Syncs to only perform export operations. No preview operations will be conducted, and configuration deployments will not be attempted for this tenant, ensuring a more stable overall operation.

Check “Install as backup only” if you wish to enable this option.

Reinstall the tenant

When everything is configured, you can confirm your selections by reinstalling the tenant.

Launch re-installation after editing is complete.
